Preschool Classroom at Avant Garde Preschool & Early Learning Centers
As a child begins preschool, this is the introduction to a more structured learning environment. A heavy focus will be placed on academic small groups, fine motor skills, and social interaction.
We utilize the project approach and child-led topics as we shift our focus to a more structured setting. We are going to be noticing the feelings and emotions of ourselves as well as others. All of these things work together to facilitate school readiness. |

My kids are always excited to go to school and learn! The teachers are so compassionate and love doing new activities with the children. I also love how they keep parents involved in what the kids are learning. We love it!!

Teacher Highlight: Miss Sherri, Master Teacher
Hello! My name is Sherri and I am so excited to be your child's preschool teacher! I am a mother of three wonderful children: one girl and two boys. They are 21, 20, and 15 years old. I am also a grandmother to the most amazing little boy and his little sister! I have been a preschool teacher since 2009 and I recently graduated from college with an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I love working with and teaching preschoolers. They are curious about everything and literally learn something new every day.
Hobbies: Spending time with my family, reading, crocheting, watching Netflix, and camping!

I LOVE Avant Garde! The atmosphere is so warm and loving, I feel like I’m dropping my son off at a family members house each day. I love knowing the kids get tons of time outdoors and no screen time. It is SO convenient that meals are included so I’m not worrying about packing breakfast, lunch and snacks every day. My son loves his teachers and friends and loves to show me his art from school and tell me about what he learned. Highly recommend!

Child-Led Learning Approach
In the preschool room we practice a lot of child-led learning, following what naturally interests the children each day. As they begin to express interest in different things, we will begin to incorporate those topics into our group time and arts and crafts.
We practice daily journaling so the children are able to write about what they are interested in, current feelings and thoughts for the day. Character building is important for this age group as well. We learn more about manners, how to be polite and how to talk to your friends.
Preschoolers are very interested in nature so we work hard to bring that inside the classroom. We spend time learning about sticks, leaves, plants and bugs. We even have our own gardens at each center!
