Two's Classroom at Avant Garde Preschool & Early Learning Centers
Two year olds are becoming independent at this stage and we are excited to watch them grow! We collaborate with families to individualize child needs such as potty-training and other self-help skills. Expressive language becomes more apparent for this group as teachers continue to encourage verbal skills.
Continued DevelopmentPreparing children for our preschool program, the two year olds will begin experiencing a much more structured day.
Our two year olds are becoming very independent and love learning, as they are beginning to recognize colors, shapes and letters. Every activity is a learning experience from art to group time. Activities may be a little messy, but we can guarantee that they are having fun! This classroom incorporates lots of sensory learning, art and singing throughout the day. Teachers in the two year old classroom pay close attention to controlling the environment by keeping voices soft, keeping anxiety levels low. |
Family Style DiningAt this age, we begin family style dining at lunchtime. Family style dining helps children to develop skills, learn concepts, make decisions and take responsibility.
It is a proud moment at Avant Garde as the teachers watch the children pass plates, learn to serve themselves, count carrots and master the skill of getting all the noodles on their spoon. Manners are reinforced as they are reminded to say things like "please pass the napkin," and "thank you for the milk." Family style dining gives the two year olds such a feeling of accomplishment, because, of course, two year olds want to do everything by themselves! |
Potty TrainingPotty training is part of our daily activities in the two year old classroom. Children must be potty trained before moving on to the three's classroom. Our toddler sized toilets make it a breeze for the children because they are just their size.
With parent support and a consistent routine, potty training is always a success! |
Teacher Highlight: Miss Kandis
Hello! My name is Kandis and I am excited for you and your child to be at our center! I have worked in the early childhood field for over fourteen years! I have an associate’s degree from TCC and am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in early childhood development at OU! I enjoy working with children of all ages.
I chose to become a teacher because it is my passion and I take pride in being a positive role model. I truly believe that it is my purpose and responsibility to lead. My favorite thing about working with kids is how much they fascinate me. I love that each child has their own personality and special gifts. It gives me joy to watch them grow and help them bloom into their own uniqueness!
Hobbies: Outside of work I enjoy writing, traveling, exploring nature, astronomy, singing, foreign languages and art!
